For decades, gender inequality has always been evident in the world, be it politics, businesses, workplaces, it has always been a male-dominated society. People say men have the natural ability to be tough and brave, while women, on the other hand, are considered emotional and empathetic, deeming them unfit for leadership roles. Over the years, we have seen the rise of female leaders, dismantling these stereotypes and proving that the qualities that make them a woman are not a hindrance to success.

Anyone can all agree that the travel industry has severely struggled due to the on-slaught of COVID-19. However, Indonesian Travel Agents Association head, Ms. Suharno and Philippine Travel Agencies Association President, Ms.Taylan conquered all the unending challenges during their Presidency. Taylan, advocating that global collaboration is the key to recovery, has been teaming up with other international organizations to keep tourism alive in their counties. With their numerous tourism recovery projects, the newly elected FATA President and Secretary General helped the industry bounce back from the phenomenon and it has drastically changed the situation as we look at it today.

Today, as they serve on a bigger platform, let us all be reminded that simply giving women opportunities to speak, lead, manage can lead to massive changes in our lives, and these brilliant women are living proof. As Pauline Suharno said, “Be brave to step out of your comfort zone and speak out loud.”
