Marcos Jr. condoles with South Korea over Itaewon crowd crush

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sympathized with South Korea on Friday over the Itaewon crush.

Marcos extended his condolences to South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and the people of South Korea during his intervention at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) – Republic of Korea Summit in Cambodia.

“President Yoon, before I start, on behalf of the Filipino people, allow me to extend my condolences to you and all the people of South Korea for the shocking tragedy in Itaewon,” said Marcos.

Around 150 individuals lost their lives during a Halloween festival that led to a crowd crush in Itaewon on October 29.

Moreover, Marcos appreciated the foreign nation for being home to almost 50,000 Filipinos.

“I cannot end my talk without thanking the Republic of Korea,” the Philippine president said.

Marcos is currently in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to attend his first Asean summit as the Philippines’ president.
