MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has denounced North Korea’s ballistic missile tests, saying it heightens tension in the region.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday urged North Korea or the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to abide by its obligations under the United Nations (UN).
“The Philippines condemns the DPRK’s latest missile launches which further increase tension and undermine peace and stability in an already volatile region. The Philippines calls on all parties to exercise utmost restraint,” the DFA said in a statement.
“It also calls on the DPRK to comply with its obligations under the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and to commit to the process of constructive and peaceful dialogue with the Republic of Korea,” it added.
On November 2, North Korea launched more than 10 missiles, with one crossing the Northern Limit Line.
