MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, Hawaii, is grieving over the killing of a long-time employee.
Authorities earlier reported that Teresita Canilao, 76, was killed by her husband, Rogelio Canilao, in an apartment in the Ala Moana area.
“The community of the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu grieves with immense sadness the loss of a beloved employee, Ms. Teresita Canilao.
“She was a long-time and valued colleague in the Consulate and a vibrant presence in local community affairs. We are heartbroken to learn of her sudden death and extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the family during this difficult time,” the consulate said in a statement on Wednesday (Philippine time).
A tribute for Canilao will be held at the Co-Cathedral of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus in Honolulu on Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m., the consulate said.
Investigations are ongoing. The motive and circumstances of the killing have not yet been disclosed.
