Bongbong Marcos says US trip ‘successful’: I’m happy with the results

Marcos US visit

Bilateral talks between Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and US Pres. Joe Biden

NEW YORK CITY, United States — As he wrapped up his six-day working visit to the United States, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday (Saturday Manila time) said he is “satisfied” with the work he has done and that his first trip to the US as the country’s chief executive was a “success.”

Marcos said he and the Philippine delegation achieved what it sought to do in the trip, which was to meet with several American business leaders, as well as some state leaders.

“We take away from this trip with a great deal of work to do to operationalize all of the things we have talked about. The most important thing to me was to get these discussions started and we have achieved that,” he told reporters from the Philippine media delegation.

“Overall, I can say that I consider the trip a success, and overall I am satisfied with the work that we have done. Lahat ng nais nating gawin ay nagwa natin, lahat mg nais mating kausapin ay talaga namang handang makipag-usap sa atin. And that kind of response is,  of course, very gratifying,” the President added.

Marcos also touted how he brought his call for unity, which was a key message in his 2022 presidential campaign to a “global scale,” saying the response from world leaders “was very good.”

The President said he is also personally happy to have returned to New York after over two decades.

“On all those fronts, we have made progress and all in all I’m very happy we came and I’m very happy with the results of the visit,” he said.

Marcos departed the US on Friday evening and is expected to arrive in Manila on Sunday morning.

During his working visit here, the President met with executives from several American firms such as P&G, the World Bank; and some state leaders including US President Joe Biden, and Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

He also met with the Filipino community in the US.
