AFP sending team to antiterror center to Singapore
SINGAPORE — The Armed Forces of the Philippines will deploy a team to the Counter-Terrorism Information Facility (CTIF) here starting the end of September as part of an arrangement seen to further strengthen defense cooperation between the Philippines and Singapore. The signing of the arrangement between AFP deputy chief of staff for Intelligence Maj. Gen. Romulo Manuel Jr. and Director of Military Intelligence Brig. Gen. Lee Yi-Jin was witnessed by President Marcos, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Minister for Defense Dr. Ng Eng Hen and Department of National Defense officer in charge Jose Faustino Jr. on Wednesday as part of Marcos’ two-day state visit here. The CTIF arrangement will further strengthen the defense cooperation between both countries in the area of counterterrorism intelligence-sharing, the Singapore’s Ministry of Defense said. —FRANCES MANGOSING
