MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. received a warm welcome from the Filipino community in Indonesia, Malacañang said Monday.
Marcos is currently in Indonesia for a three-day state visit, which began with a Filipino community event at the Fairmont Jakarta Hotel Sunday afternoon.
Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said some 500 Filipinos attended the event to meet Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, and select Cabinet members.
“Grabe ang init ng pagtanggap nila sa amin. Sobrang nakakamiss talaga ang makipagkita at makipag-usap sa mga kapwa Pilipino na matagal nang di nakauwi,” she said in a Facebook live.
(They warmly received us. I really miss meeting and talking with Filipinos who have not been home for a long while.)
“Ang saya-saya kagabi and sana napanood din ninyo. Ipo-post din namin yung mga bahagi ng pagka-address ng ating Pangulo dun sa mga Pilipino dito,” Cruz-Angeles added.

The Philippines is expected to sign agreements to further boost ties with Indonesia and Singapore where Marcos will also have a state visit.
Marcos is scheduled to visit Indonesia and meet with President Joko Widodo from September 4 to 6.
He will be in Singapore from September 6 to 7 to meet with President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Marcos said he will be discussing with Widodo “the current state and the future as we see it of the bilateral relationship between the Philippines and Indonesia and the changing global geopolitical environment.” #
