MANILA, Philippines – Filipino couple Yen and Oliver Beltran flexed their acroyoga skills and wowed netizens after they shared photos of themselves doing incredible poses on Miami Beach, Florida in United States.

Travel nurse Oliver Beltran told INQUIRER.net on Thursday that acroyoga combines acrobatics and yoga, saying that it “promotes physical and mental well-being by doing different positions.”

“It also develops discipline, calmness and relieves stress,” said Beltran, adding that acroyoga helps build trust between partners.

On top of the mental and social benefits, Beltran said that it also has physical benefits.

“It develops muscle strength, improves balance, and it maximizes your body’s full range of motion,” he explained.

When asked how he got started doing acroyoga, Beltran said that his wife, Yen, is a yoga instructor who is very passionate about the discipline.

“She’s Buddhist and into meditation; part of it is doing yoga. Then eventually, I joined her yoga and meditation,” he said.

Beltran said that he was not as flexible as his wife when starting out, but she noticed his upper and lower body strength.

“Yen thought of combining her flexibility and my strength in yoga positions that can only be achieved by having full trust with your partner,” Beltran shared.

While acroyoga may seem intimidating, especially to beginners, Beltran assured us that it was worth it because it instills a sense of peace, calmness, and discipline.

“Start by doing basic beginner yoga to build strength, balance, and flexibility,” he advised.
