MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Consulate in Brisbane in Queensland, Australia will reopen on September 1, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Friday.
After former Philippine Honorary Consul General Margaret Grummitt ended her term on February 28, the consulate was temporarily closed until a new consul was appointed.

On August 8, newly installed Philippine Honorary Consul to Queensland Sheryll Gabutero took her oath of office.
“This officially re-opens the Philippine Consulate in Brisbane to serve more than 51,000 Filipinos in Queensland. The Consulate shall be under the consular jurisdiction of the Philippine Embassy in Canberra,” the DFA said in a statement.
The consul’s duty includes promoting and protecting the interests of Filipinos and the country in Queensland.
The Philippine Consulate in Brisbane will operate Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
