Pinoys still trust Americans the most
Filipinos believe that the United States, Australia and Japan should be the most trusted countries while Russia and China should be the least trusted, according to a Pulse Asia survey about trust toward 10 selected countries. The survey, conducted from June 24 to June 27 among 1,200 adult Filipinos, found that 31 percent of the respondents believe the Philippines should give the United States a “great deal of trust” while 58 percent said it should give the country a “fair amount of trust,” resulting in 89-percent trust rating to the United States. China received the lowest trust rating from Filipinos at 33 percent, with 28 percent who said it should be given a fair amount of trust and 5 percent who said it should be given a great deal of trust. China also had the highest distrust rating at 67 percent. According to Pulse Asia, public opinion on the matter has been mostly consistent since the survey was last conducted in September 2019. The nationwide survey had a margin of error of plus-or-minus 2.8 percentage points. —INQUIRER RESEARCH
