MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines and China have teamed up for the construction of the Davao River Bridge in Davao City.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian on Tuesday said that the two countries signed a deal for the Chinese-assisted project.

“Another milestone for the Philippine-China [government-to-government] cooperation! China and the Philippines just signed the commercial contract of the Consulting Services for the Conduct of Detailed Engineering Design and Construction Supervision of the Davao River Bridge,” Huang posted on a social media site Facebook.
“After signing the Contract, the Consultant will carry out geotechnical investigation, geodesic surveys and data collection, and further complete the detailed engineering design. The survey and design are scheduled to be completed within 6 months, and the construction supervision duration of the Project is planned to be 24 months,” he shared.
The Davao River Bridge, also called Bucana Bridge, will be located at the estuary of Davao River.
The bridge, a dual two-lanes with a total length of around 1,340 meters, is anticipated to ease “east-west traffic congestion in the coastal areas of the city and divert about 35,000 vehicles every day, tremendously improve travel efficiency and help boost the rapid development of the local socio-economy.”
During the construction period, some 300 to 500 locals are eyed to work on the completion of the bridge.
