In line with its thrust to integrate sustainability in all facets of the business, Globe empowers its employees to embrace sustainable practices, providing them with useful knowledge and skills through their internal learning program Sustainability Academy.
The Sustainability Academy is an internal learning platform, launched in partnership with LinkedIn Learning, that serves as a valuable resource for employees on sustainable practices and how they can be applied in their work.
Lessons include e-learning modules that tackle crucial topics such as introduction to sustainability, climate change mitigation, sustainability as a business priority, and responsible digital citizenship and online safety.
“Sustainability is something that can only be achieved through collective efforts. At Globe, we’ve set this as a priority for our employees and have focused on strengthening their skills and knowledge. This, we believe, will greatly help us in continuing to be a force for good especially as we utilize technologies to address customer pain points,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
The company considers sustainability as a journey and not a destination, and the Academy is one way of furthering its commitment to building a more sustainable future. New employees are mandated to complete “Sustainability 101: Sustainability for a Globe of Good” and “Sustainability 102: Sustainability In The Digital Age” e-learning courses within a month upon onboarding.
Since the Academy’s launch, over 6,000 employees have finished Sustainability 101, registering the highest completion rate among all Globe-curated learning paths.
Globe’s Chief Human Resource Officer Ato Jiao said, “By championing good governance and providing employees with knowledge and skills on sustainability, Globe believes that its workforce would be able to roll out more holistic programs across all Globe processes and operations.”
The Academy is only one part of Globe’s larger effort to make sustainability an integral part of its business.
Globe has also updated its Code of Conduct (CoC) with an additional section on the policy that highlights sustainability principles, in line with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Principles. It reiterates Globe’s commitment to respect human rights, uphold labor standards, protect the environment, and advocate for anti-corruption practices. The CoC is communicated to new hires during the onboarding process, while current employees receive instruction on its updates annually and are required to understand and acknowledge the terms.
Globe’s efforts for sustainability also extend to its suppliers, as the company champions sustainable practices and integrates them into its supply chain. Standards of quality and business integrity are in place so that working conditions are safe, workers are treated with respect and dignity, and business operations are environmentally responsible and conducted ethically.
“Our journey towards a more sustainable future is one that we undertake not just for ourselves but for future generations to come. We are hopeful that our initiatives will inspire others to do the same,” shared Crisanto.
Globe is committed to upholding the 10 United Nations Global Compact principles and 10 UN SDGs.
