France fetes outgoing tourism chief

The French government has conferred the Ordre du Mérite Agricole (Order of Agricultural Merit) with the rank of officer on outgoing Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat in recognition of her support for the agricultural sector and promoting food culture in the Philippines.

The French government has conferred the Ordre du Mérite Agricole (Order of Agricultural Merit) with the rank of officer on outgoing Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat in recognition of her support for the agricultural sector and promoting food culture in the Philippines.

Romulo-Puyat, who was recently appointed deputy governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines, served as agriculture undersecretary from 2007 to 2018.

French Ambassador Michèle Boccoz cited Romulo-Puyat contributions to Philippine agriculture, particularly in promoting local products, supporting gender-inclusive agriculture and encouraging the adoption of modern techniques in the agricultural sector. —TINA G. SANTOS
