MANILA, Philippines — Three more diplomats paid a courtesy call Tuesday on President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to tackle issues on economy, national security, and human rights, among others.
Spain Ambassador to the Philippines Jorge Moragas, Germany Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel, and Morocco Ambassador Mohammed Ride El Fassi met with Marcos Jr. at the latter’s headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

During the visit, Reiffenstuel stressed the ongoing bilateral cooperation between Germany and the Philippines, noting the potential for furthering cooperation between the two countries in addressing global challenges such as climate change.
“I informed President-elect Marcos about the ongoing programs Germany is currently conducting in the Philippines in the framework of Germany’s international climate initiatives to address the impact of climate change here in the Philippines,” Reiffenstuel said in a press briefing.
“I informed him that so far, Germany has provided 25 million euros for climate change-related bilateral projects… We are currently working on another program also in the context of climate change,” she added.
Also tackled were the impacts of the Russia-Ukraine conflict to food security, as well as the topics of trade relations, renewable energy, human rights, and maritime security.

Several ambassadors have paid a courtesy call on Marcos Jr. over the past few weeks following the latter’s recent presidential win in the 2022 national elections.
On Monday, Marcos Jr. received ambassadors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) including Brunei Darussalam Ambassador to the Philippines Johariah Wahab, Cambodia Ambassador Phan Peuv, Indonesia Ambassador Agus Widjojo, and Lao People’s Democratic Republic Ambassador Songkane Luangmuninthone.
Also present were Singapore Ambassador Gerard Ho, Thailand Chargé d’affaires Thawat Sumitmor, and Vietnam Ambassador Hoang Huy Chung.
