The armies of the Philippines and New Zealand are seeking to boost ties through bilateral engagements.
New Zealand nonresident defense attaché Col. Paul Michael Dragicevich, who is based in Tokyo, Japan, visited the Army headquarters in Taguig City on May 18 to discuss potential cooperation on leadership and management, personnel development, and cyberspace domain, the Army said on Thursday.
Army chief of staff Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong, who represented Army chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., raised the possibility of tapping the New Zealand Army for the development of a Philippine Army warrant officer program and training for the professional development of senior noncommissioned officers.
The two armies will focus their engagements on military training and education; strengthen collaboration in technology transfers; intelligence; and information exchanges, the Army said. —FRANCES MANGOSING
