The Philippines will donate 3 million doses of Sputnik COVID-19 vaccines to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) countries, a government adviser said on Friday.
Dr. Ted Herbosa, adviser of the National Task Force against COVID-19, said the Department of Foreign Affairs was already preparing the papers needed for the donation.
“I think Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar were the target countries to receive these because they lack vaccines—Myanmar I think specifically for Sputnik,” Herbosa said at the Laging Handa briefing.
Herbosa also said that the World Health Organization-led global initiative COVAX facility would replace 1 million expired AstraZeneca vaccines.
He also advised Filipinos to get their booster shots before the more infectious Omicron subvariants enter the Philippines. —Nestor Corrales
