MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Tuesday the death of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Kuwait due to alleged suicide.
“The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait confirmed the demise of OFW Gladys Olarte Fong, who was found dead on 14 March 2022 inside her room in Al-Salam Area, Kuwait City,” the DFA said in a statement.
The DFA said police were called as Fong has not come out of her room since the morning of March 14. Police had to break the door to have access to her room.
“Initial police reports state that the manner of death is consistent with suicide. Complete and comprehensive forensics were undertaken, and we are waiting for the results thereof,” it said.
The DFA assured that the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait is closely monitoring the case.
