“Kababaihan sa Sentro” is all about women at the center, this art exhibit is on women, by women, for women. “Each artist has a compelling story to tell and transform their narratives to painting, says, RLC corporate PR Director Roseann C. Villegas.   Ms. Villegas  adds that each story of their is as unique as their representations in life, may not be ideal or perfect, but at least, the viewing public may learn something from their works and perspectives.

Architect/Professor Busmente is tied up with design and build projects yet she finds time to paint as a breather. She is trying to balance her career and being a mother, “as your children grow so is your love for them, you love them even more and you value time with them. In my painting, I am always renewed as a mother and as an artist.”

Artist De Castro-Añonuevo discovered that “life and art is a continuing process of learning.” She is now more focused in the substance in her painting that she feels the painting is like a visual diary.

Artist Wolf learned to value our abundant waste products in the country, like coconut shells. Her husband encouraged her to use coconut shell as her canvas in painting. She has explored many possibilities in painting on coconut shells.

These women artists have struggled in different stages in their lives as daughter, sister, mother and friend. Challenges were met and trounced. Inequality was opposed to, paving the way for remarkable achievements in their chosen field and advocacy.

These 7 artists are also art exhibit organizers: Arlene De Castro- Añonuevo, Mary Rajelyn Busmente, Cynthia Leyson, Dara Solevilla, Sandra Torrijos, Bernadette Solina- Wolf and Riza Zuñiga.
