Locsin to attend Asean meet in Cambodia

Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. will head to Cambodia this week for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Retreat and other related meetings.

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. will head to Cambodia this week for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Retreat and other diplomatic-related meetings.

During the meetings, Locsin is expected to speak on the Philippines’ position on key issues such as the South China Sea and the political crisis in Myanmar, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement on Monday.

The foreign affairs chief will also talk about the Asean region’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Foreign Ministers are expected to discuss ASEAN’s priorities for the year under Cambodia’s chairmanship, ASEAN external relations, and other regional and international issues,” the DFA added.

The meetings will be held from Feb. 16 to 17 in Phnom Penh.
