Qatar donates P23M for COVID vaccines

MANILA, Philippines — Qatar has provided $450,000 (approximately P23 million) to help the Philippines purchase 50,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, according to the emirate’s embassy in Manila. Qatar Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Malki said this latest support “comes within the framework of humanitarian action” to strengthen international efforts in the field of emergency aid. On the other hand, Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, director general of Qatar Fund for Development, said the aid was also meant to assist “friendly and fraternal countries,” like the Philippines, overcome the health crisis. —TINA G.
