With the goal of ushering in important transformation within their companies and the communities where they operate, PLDT and Smart created Better Today PH (Better Today) – a collaborative platform that seeks to promote wellness, safe spaces, and changemaking for children and the youth in the digital world.
As a narrative, Better Today anchors on the corporate vision of PLDT and Smart, “to lead and inspire Filipinos to create a better tomorrow.” For Filipinos to have a better tomorrow, it is imperative for every citizen to strive to be better today and work on protecting children and the youth as champions of the next generation.
As a platform, Better Today anchors on PLDT and Smart’s industry leadership and enabling technology. Harping on the establishing value of fast, strong, and resilient connections, Better Today PH collaborates further with various stakeholders to develop and advocate policies, create awareness and meaningful content, and empower communities towards solutions that positively impact young Filipinos and make them feel safer, happier, and better in the digital environment. Advocacy pillars include Better Today Conversations for mental health awareness and Better Today for Kids for the promotion of children’s rights and protection.
As a community, Better Today strives to thrive on a culture of empathy and kindness that emanates from the level of the self, to the family, and to the larger community. It also champions on the passion-purpose, creativity, and empowerment of the youth to spark inter-generational understanding and positive changes within communities, both online and offline.
As a movement, Better Today journeys hand in hand with like-minded people, advocates, and organizations from various sectors, including local governments, content creators, and civil society organizations. With over 17 advocacy partners, 8 local government co-champions, and over 17 million social media platform reach, it believes in the continuous creation of shared value and on a whole-of-community approach to making the digital world safer, and better today.
Better Today, is a manifestation of PLDT and Smart’s continuing commitment to help the Philippines in contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), particularly UNSDG #3 that stands for good health and well-being, and UNSDG #16 that stands against abuse, violence, and exploitation of children.
