The start of December brings the Embassy to its 3rd week of Community Pantry activities in Barangay 82, Tondo, Manila. The care packages prepared for the week-long Community Pantry drive, from December 1-5, 2021, include food and medical supplies that will provide many families in the Barangay with their daily needs, especially with the holidays just around the corner.
Chinese Embassy’s Counselor Xie Yonghui expressed during his remarks how China and the Philippines have continually helped each other in the spirit of Bayanihan and sent his good wishes to the residents this Christmas Season.
“China and the Philippines are close neighbors with over a thousand years of friendly exchanges. Our exchanges are as frequent as those between relatives…We rejoice together in good times, and help each other out in hard times, thus forging a stronger sense of being a community with a shared future,” Xie said.
“In the face of the invisible enemy, COVID-19, China and the Philippines have also extended timely support to each other in the name of friendship, humanity, and the spirit of Bayanihan,” he adds.
Barangay 82 Captain Chairman Alex Espinosa conveyed his gratitude to the Embassy and Chinese enterprises for selecting their residents as beneficiaries. He also said that the medical and food packages will not only be a provision of daily essentials for many but also, a gift that will make the families’ holidays this December even more joyful.
Together with the Chinese Embassy, several Chinese enterprises and organizations joined in giving back to the community including the Chinese Enterprise Philippines Association Inc. (CEPA), China State Construction Engrg. Corp. Ltd, China Road and Bridge Philippines, PowerChina Philippines , ZTE Philippines Inc., Bank of China(Hongkong) Limited, Haier, and Bayanihao. CEPA Vice President and General Manager of China Road and Bridge Philippines Ren Xiaopeng relayed his happiness to be part of the turnover ceremony that gives back to people and showcases the enterprise’s further commitment to social responsibility. CEO of ZTE Philippines Inc. Wan Min also communicated his thanks for the opportunity to extend their hands to the Filipino locals and intends to continue the good works in more areas in the future.
The Chinese Embassy hopes to see the complete success of the ongoing Community Pantry Drive until December 5, with the turnover and first-day distribution jumpstarting a week-long activity full of generosity and merriment. With the Christmas and New Year’s season fast approaching, the Chinese Embassy looks forward to the community-driven activities in the following days, hand-in-hand with the Filipino people.
