MANILA, Philippines — The 36 Filipino fisherfolk who were stranded in Fiji for more than two months are finally home, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The fisherfolk recently arrived at the Davao International Airport via a special chartered flight.

The Filipino fisherfolk were crew members of Chinese-operated fishing boats, who were originally scheduled to return to the Philippines on Aug. 20. However, 19 of them tested positive for COVID-19 prior to their flight.
