MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte is set to participate in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit on November 12 via videoconferencing, Malacañang said Tuesday.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte is expected to attend the opening ceremonies as well as the global economic outlook presentation of the International Monetary Fund.
The Chief Executive is likewise anticipated to attend the forum on COVID-19 recovery and the handover of APEC chairmanship to Thailand. Duterte will also participate in the annual conference’s closing ceremonies, Roque said.
During last year’s APEC Summit, Duterte called for stronger cooperation to ensure universal access to coronavirus vaccines and inclusive economic recovery.
He also urged APEC economies to strengthen partnerships and ensure the unimpeded flow of medical supplies and technologies.
