PH bans entry of travelers from Latvia

MANILA, Philippines — Travelers from Latvia will not be allowed to enter the Philippines from Nov. 1 to Nov. 15, according to the government’s pandemic task force.

Latvia is now classified as a red list country, or a country at high-risk for COVID-19, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) said in a resolution.

The IATF also updated its list of “green” countries or those at low risk for COVID-19. Fully vaccinated travelers from these countries may skip quarantine upon arrival if they have a negative result from a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test taken within 72 hours prior to departure from their country of origin.

Meanwhile, the IATF said the public could now apply for COVID-19 digital vaccination certificates for domestic use. The VaxCertPH previously prioritized digital certificate applications from those who would travel abroad. —Leila B. Salaverria
