MANILA, Philippines — Three more Filipinos were evacuated from Afghanistan, bringing to 191 the number of Filipinos who have left the country, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Thursday.
The three Filipinos were evacuated from Afghanistan over the weekend, the DFA said in its latest situation bulletin.
Based on DFA figures, 20 Filipinos are still in Afghanistan, 18 of whom have so far “expressed their intention to stay in the country for work reasons.”
The two others “are open to repatriation,” according to the DFA.
The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, which has jurisdiction over Afghanistan, is closely monitoring the status of the remaining Filipinos in the country and “stands ready to assist them at any time,” the DFA said.
