MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) on Friday issued a temporary ban on the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Oman.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III approved the suspension in consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs after the Sultanate of Oman’s Supreme Committee on COVID-19 on May 4 banned the entry of travelers from the Philippines.

The ban also extends to other travelers who passed through the Philippines less than 14 days prior to the application for entry into Oman, except for Omani citizens, diplomats, health workers and their families.

On June 5, the Omani government extended the ban on Filipino travelers indefinitely. —PATRICIA DENISE M. CHIU
