MANILA, Philippines — The US government has advised its nationals to reconsider traveling to the Philippines even though its travel alert has been downgraded. In a June 8 advisory, the US Department of State placed its travel alert for the Philippines at Level 3 due to the “high level” of COVID-19 cases.

In April, it said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a Level 4 travel health notice for the Philippines.

Alert Level 4 means “Do not travel.” But the “do not travel” advisory of the United States remains in effect in Marawi City and the Sulu archipelago due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, and kidnapping.
