One new case of COVID-19 reported among Filipinos abroad — DFA

MANILA, Philippines — Another Filipino has contracted COVID-19 overseas, bringing total infections to 18,634, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

According to the DFA’s latest bulletin, there were 6,075 active cases as of May 20, with four more recovering from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 11,396.

Meanwhile, no new deaths have been reported, leaving the death toll at 1,163.

DFA said COVID-positive Filipinos are found in 94 countries around the globe, specifically, 10,467 in the Middle East and Africa; 3,790 in the Asia-Pacific region; 3,394 in Europe; and 983 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the Department of Health said the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections is now at 1,165,155 as of May 20. This includes 1,093,602 recovered patients and 19,641 fatalities.

Active cases, on the other hand, are at 51,912 as of Thursday.
