COVID-19 hits 10 more Filipinos abroad – DFA

MANILA, Philippines — New coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has infected 10 more Filipinos overseas, pushing the total number of cases to 18,390 as of May 3, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

DFA likewise reported the recovery of three additional patients while no new deaths were recorded for the period.

It also said that current active cases stand at 5,966 active cases while the tally of recovered patients and fatalities are now at 11,277 and 1,147, respectively.

According to the DFA, COVID-positive Filipinos are found in 94 countries around the globe.

Based on the agency’s data, 10,453 cases are in the Middle East and Africa, 3,574 are in the Asia-Pacific region, 3,363 in Europe, and 980 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) said that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections reached 1,062,225 on May 3, including 975,234 are recovered patients and 17,525 deaths.

Active cases in the country, meanwhile, are at 69,466 as of Monday, DOH added.
