No new COVID-19 cases reported in Filipinos abroad — DFA

MANILA, Philippines — No new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Filipinos abroad, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Sunday.

With no new cases, the total number of Filipinos overseas who are infected by COVID-19 remains at 18,380.

This number includes 5,959 active cases as well as 11,274 recoveries and 1,147 deaths.

According to the DFA, COVID-positive Filipinos are found in 94 countries around the globe. Of those infected, 10,453 are in the Middle East and Africa, 3,591 are in the Asia-Pacific region, 3,356 in Europe, and 980 in the Americas.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections has reached 1,054,983, according to the Department of Health (DOH), while 966,080 are recovered patients and the death toll stands at 17,431.

The DOH said active cases as of May 2, are at 71,472.
