32 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-two more Filipinos overseas have contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Friday.

In its April 30 bulletin, the DFA said the new cases brought the total infections among Filipinos abroad to 18,357.

Of this number, 5,941 are undergoing treatment;  11,271 have recovered, while 1,145 have died.

“On this last day of the month, the DFA received reports confirming 32 new COVID-19 cases, 38 new recoveries, and no new fatality among Filipinos abroad,” the DFA said in an advisory.

Most of the cases are in the Middle East and Africa regions (10,453 cases), followed by the Asia Pacific Region (3,591 cases), Europe (3,356 cases) and the Americas (957 cases).

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Friday 8,748 new COVID-19 cases in the country, bringing the total number of infections to more than 1.037 million.
