DFA logs 12 new COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos

MANILA, Philippines — Twelve more Filipinos abroad have tested positive for COVID-19, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

No new deaths, however, were reported.

As of April 28, a total of 18,325 Filipinos living abroad have been infected by COVID-19, based on the DFA’s latest report.

This number includes 5,947 active cases as well as 11,233 recovered patients and 1,145 deaths.

According to the DFA, COVID-positive Filipinos are found in 94 countries worldwide. Of the infected Filipinos abroad, 10,453 are in the Middle East and Africa, the Asia-Pacific region (3,559), Europe (3,356), and the Americas (957).

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the Philippines has reached 1,028,738 on Thursday, according to the Department of Health (DOH), while 942,239 are recovered cases. The death toll stands at 17,145 deaths.

The DOH said active COVID-19 cases as of April 29 are at 69,354.
