There are beauty products that come from  natural sources, and there those that are chemical-based. The former can do wonders to you, while the latter may cause more harm than good.

Products that are derived from plant sources are gaining popularity because of the numerous benefits one can reap from them. Wonders of nature like the Pili tree and the Pili nut are perfect examples.

Pili

Pili is a native nut tree that is indigenous to the Bicol region. Apart from the usual sweetened  snack, Pili is also known as an excellent source of protein and calcium. It helps fight free radicals  and boosts the immune system, thanks to its substantial Vitamin E content. Unknown to many  though, Pili can also work wonders for skin health.

The oil extracted from the Pili fruits and resin is rich in anti-oxidants and vitamins making it a one of-a-kind healing and moisturizing serum. It also has anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal  properties that make it a perfect healing oil for allergies and skin ailments.

The process of extracting the oil is no easy task though, but it is what makes this particular natural beauty product truly special. It actually takes 1,500 Pili fruits to make just one liter of Pili oil. The Pili tree excretes two type of oils, Pili and Elemi. These are two special oils that come from the fruit and the sap of the trunk, respectively. Pili oil maintains a healthy skin by treating wounds and allergies, and prevents scars even from complicated skin ailments. Elemi oil , on the other hand, is responsible for managing dull skin, fine lines, breakouts, and wrinkles.

Pili Ani

Pili Ani is one brand that carries a natural beauty care line derived from Pili and Elemi oils. As Pili means choose, and Ani means harvest, the brand name Pili Ani means “Chosen Harvest”. The Pili Tree, also regarded as “The Chosen Tree”, is the only tree that stands strong and resilient all throughout typhoon season even bearing more fruit amidst the weather turmoil.

The Pili Harvest

Pili Ani is the brainchild of Rosalina Tan, one of the pioneers of organic farming in the Country.  Her daughter Mary Jane Tan-Ong helped her set up the business with the initial mission to  support the 200 local farmers and their families.

Apart from enriching the lives of the caretakers of the Pili trees, the Brand hosts sustainability programs within the farm by providing continuous education for the farmers through seminars on pili and elemi oil production that will not compromise nature and the environment. This also means that raw materials do not need to be exported, financially benefiting the whole Bicol region.

Pili Ani, as a brand, also encourages the Bicol community to focus on organic farming through the  Save Our Soil Foundation, while providing students from underprivileged families with  scholarships through the Pili Literacy Program. It takes care of the people that take care of the  products, making the founders “feel a sense of pride”.

The brand carries a long list of beauty, skin care and wellness products like essential oils, facial cream, age defying elixir, and nourishing liquid foundation. These products were created as ethical, cruelty-free, and vegan, aside from providing sustainability and fair trade to the Bicol community.

Help Pili Ani Care for Mother Earth

The brand cares for the environment as much as it does the people of Bicol. As part of Pili Ani’s initiative to plant 10,000 trees, you will get Pili seeds for any purchase made. We plant your tree on your behalf and name it after you. You can then search for it using the coordinates that we provide you, just in case you want to check on its growth progress.

More information on this program and its mechanics will be posted on the brand websites  ph.piliani.com in the PH and Piliani.com in the United States.

This contribution of yours is your gift not only to Mother Earth but to the organic farmers in Bicol  as well.

Celebrate Earth Day by nurturing nature and the people who help take care of her. Happy World Earth Day!
