MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines on Wednesday expressed “deep concern” over last week’s ballistic missile tests of North Korea, saying this “seriously” undermines peace and stability in the region.
“The Philippines expresses deep concern over DPRK’s (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) latest ballistic missile launch on 25 March 2021,” the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement.
“Such actions seriously undermine regional peace and stability not only in the Korean Peninsula, but also in the entire region,” it added.
The DFA reiterated its call on North Korea to comply with its international obligations under relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and “commit to the process of constructive dialogue.”
On March 25, North Korea launched two ballistic missiles into the sea near Japan, which highlights the country’s steady progress in its weapons program and increases pressure on the administration of US President Joe Biden as it reviews its North Korea policy.
