5 more Filipinos abroad die of COVID-19 — DFA
MANILA, Philippines — Five more Filipinos abroad have succumbed to COVID-19, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Sunday.
The new deaths were recorded in the Middle East and Africa, pushing the total number of deaths among Filipinos abroad to 1,038.
The DFA said there were also 10 new COVID-19 cases recorded.
To date, there are 15,089 COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad, of which 9,526 are recoveries.
The DFA said it “remains fully committed to monitoring the situation of overseas Filipinos and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare.”
In the Philippines, health officials recorded on Sunday 3,276 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases to over 36,000.
