PH sets limits to travelers from UAE, Hungary over new virus variant

MANILA, Philippines — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Hungary are now included in the list of countries with travel restrictions in the Philippines due to the new COVID-19 variant, Malacañang said Friday.

The travel limits imposed on UAE and Hungary start Jan. 17 until Jan. 31, 2021, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

“Filipino citizens coming from, or who have been to these two countries, within 14 days immediately preceding arrival in the Philippines, including those arriving after January 17, 2021, 12:01AM, Manila time, shall be allowed to enter the Philippines,” Roque said.

However, they must be subjected to a strict 14-day quarantine regardless of a negative swab test result.
