26 Pinoys catch virus after reaching UK
A third of the 26 Filipino medical front-liners in the United Kingdom who were recently infected with COVID-19 were deployed during the pandemic. The Philippine Overseas Labor Office in London on Wednesday reported that in the last two days, 25 Filipino nurses and a Filipino health-care worker were confirmed COVID-positive amid a spike in coronavirus cases in the United Kingdom. This brought the total COVID-stricken Filipino health-care workers in the United Kingdom to 776, of whom 36 had died. In a report to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Labor attaché Amy Reyes said nine of the 26 were deployed only this year. —DONA Z. PAZZIBUGAN
