MANILA, Philippines – A sweet potato puff snack called Spudsy made out of “ugly sweet potatoes” that would have ended up in the reject pile because of their shapes. A plant-based protein snack called Siren made from one of the most overlooked yet nutritious greens. These innovative food and beverage products from California were two of the 10 brands that underwent the Greenhouse Accelerator program, a six-month mentorship and grant program for start-up innovators. This year, project proponent PepsiCo has expanded beyond North America and Europe, and is now accepting applications globally, including the Philippines.

Ten start-ups that focus on health management and wellness will be chosen from a number of competitive applicants to receive 20,000 USD each in funding. The selected innovators will also undergo a six-month program on business planning, supply chain management and distribution conducted by mentors from PepsiCo. The Greenhouse Accelerator is a project to help innovative upcoming entrepreneurs and companies that have the potential to lead consumers to healthier living.

She added, “We are especially excited this year, because this is the 1st time the program has been expanded worldwide. Since Asia and the Philippines have many talented founders, entrepreneurs and start-ups, PepsiCo wants to get the word out by the December 7, 2020 deadline for applicants.”
