16 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19 — DFA

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Monday 16 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad.

According to DFA, with the new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad has now reached 11,692.

Of this number, DFA said 3,348 are undergoing treatment and 7,497 have recovered or have been discharged. The foreign affairs department likewise reported two new deaths, bringing the death toll to 847.

As per the different regions, 7,544 COVID-19-infected Filipinos are in the Middle East and Africa; 1,926 are in the Asia Pacific region; 1,383 are in Europe; and 839 are in the Americas.

“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipino nationals abroad amid the pandemic,” the foreign affairs department said.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, COVID-19 cases have reached 431,630, of which 24,580 are considered active.
