Duterte assures strong PH partnership with China-Asean community

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has assured that the Philippines will maintain its support for the China-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (China-Asean) community.

“Let us ensure a harmonious collaboration among our countries and achieve the goal of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership under the blueprint of the China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership Vision 2030,” said Duterte in his message at the 17th China-Asean Expo and China-Asean Business and Investment Summit held on Friday, Nov. 27.

“Be assured that the Philippines remains a strong partner in promoting the mutual prosperity of the China-Asean economic community for the years ahead,” he went on.

Likewise, the Chief Executive thanked China for “substantial investments in trade, infrastructure, telecommunication and transportation that strengthened economic integration, productivity, and financial stability in the region.”

He also underscored that the annual economic event will help boost ties with China and Asean member-states especially during the impacts of the pandemic in the economy.
