MANILA, Philippines — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. and China’s top diplomat in the Philippines met Tuesday to discuss “strategic cooperation” between Manila and Beijing.
Locsin met with Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian in celebration of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the Mid-Autumn Festival, which both fall on October 1.
“The Secretary and Ambassador exchanged views on China-Philippines relations, strategic cooperation,” the Chinese Embassy in Manila said in a short statement.
Issues of common concern were also discussed during their meeting, according to the embassy.
The meeting was held in Huang’s official residence in Makati City.
