DFA: 4 more Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19, total now at 10,390

MANILA, Philippines — The total number of Filipinos abroad who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has reached 10,390 on Sunday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported four new cases.

The new cases were recorded from the Asia Pacific region, the DFA said.

Meanwhile, no new recoveries and COVID-19 deaths among overseas Filipinos were reported on Sunday, leaving their respective totals at 6,594 and 777, respectively.

Of the total cases, only 3,019 are active cases and are currently being treated.

The majority of the active cases or 2,326 are in the Middle East/Africa, 332 are in the Asia Pacific, 195 are in Europe, and 166 are in the Americas.

The Middle East/Africa region also has the highest number of deaths among Filipinos abroad at 496, followed by the Americas at 178, Europe with 95 while only eight came from the Asia Pacific Region

Globally, the respiratory disease has so far infected over 30 million people.

As of Sunday, the Philippines has a total of 286,743 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 229,865 recoveries and 4,984 deaths.
