COVID-19 infects 10 more Filipinos abroad; total cases now at 10,096 — DFA

MANILA, Philippines — The total number of overseas Filipinos who contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) reached 10,096 after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported 10 new infections on Wednesday.

Of these cases, DFA figures showed that 3,162 are still undergoing treatment while 6,177 have already recovered from the disease.

The DFA, meanwhile, has so far recorded 757 fatalities, including two new deaths.

The most number of deaths were reported in the Middle East and Africa Region at 476 fatalities, according to the DFA.

On Wednesday, the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines surpassed 226,000 cases with 158,610 recoveries and 3,623 deaths.

Globally, over 25.3 million individuals have so far been infected by the new coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan City in China’s Hubei province late last year. More than 848,000 have died from the disease across the world.
