National flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Friday brought from Saudi Arabia the remains of 72 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), including those who died from the coronavirus.
PAL special flight PR-8683 arrived from Dammam at around 10 a.m. at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2, airline spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said on Facebook.
Villaluna said 62 of the OFWs died of COVID-19 while the other 10 died of other causes.
The flight, chartered by the Department of Labor and Employment and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, flew to the Saudi cities of Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam, to retrieve 19, 15, and 36 remains, respectively. —Jerome Aning
