MANILA, Philippines — A total 410 Filipinos were repatriated from Lebanon on Sunday, including 20 who were injured in the Aug. 4 massive explosions in the capital Beirut.
The chartered flight will also bring home the remains of the four Filipino domestic helpers who were among the more than 200 people killed in the blast at the port of Beirut.
The flight will arrive in Manila around 1 p.m. on Monday on board Qatar Airways flight QR 3150, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Beirut would arrange another special flight for other Filipinos in Lebanon who want to come home amid the worsening political and economic crisis.
Around 33,000 Filipinos remain in Lebanon, mostly in the Greater Beirut area, working as household helpers.
Last week, over 10,573 overseas Filipinos mostly from the Middle East were repatriated through 27 special commercial flights and two DFA-chartered flights.
Since the global lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, 135,290 Filipinos have been brought home.
