57 more Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19; total now at 9,873

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported 57 more cases of Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19, with the total now reaching 9,873.

The latest data from the DFA showed that of the total number of cases, 3,330 are currently undergoing treatment.

There were 19 new recoveries recorded, bringing the total number of those who recovered to 5,821.

Meanwhile, an additional death was also reported by the DFA, with the death toll rising to 722.

The Middle East/Africa region has the most number of cases of Filipinos who contracted COVID-19, as the DFA said there were 6,889 infections.

Europe, meanwhile, has 1,143 cases of Filipinos hit with COVID-19, followed by the Asia Pacific Region with 1,057 cases and the Americas with 784 cases.

Currently, the COVID-19 pandemic has hit 20.8 million people worldwide, of which 747,584 have died.

In the Philippines, there are 147,526 cases of COVID-19, with 2,445 deaths and 70,387 recoveries. [ac]
