Ex-PH envoy to South Korea accused of sexual harassment
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday confirmed that the country’s former ambassador to South Korea resigned effective March 16 after being accused of sexual harassment and subjected to an administrative investigation.
“The Embassy of the Philippines in Seoul received a complaint for sexual harassment against the then Philippine Ambassador to Korea in February 2020 when the latter was in Manila on official business,” the DFA said in a statement.
The DFA did not name the ambassador, retired police general Noe Wong, whose appointment to the post was confirmed by the Commission on Appointments on Feb. 6 last year.
The complainant was reportedly a South Korean female embassy staff who also filed a separate complaint with the local police.
