MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported 59 new COVID-19 patients among overseas Filipino, driving the total to 8,974.
Of the sum, DFA said 3,020 are still being treated while 5,321, including 10 more patients, have managed to recover from the serious respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2.
Also, DFA reported 15 new fatalities among infected Filipinos abroad, bringing the death toll to 633.
In the Philippines, health officials have so far recorded 61,266 COVID-19 cases. Of the number, 21,440 have recovered while 1,643 have died as of July 16.
Worldwide, over 13.7 million individuals have so far been infected by the new coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan City in China’s Hubei province late last year. Further, COVID-19 has killed more than 587,000 even as 8.1 million has recovered from the disease across the world.
