MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday reported no new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases and fatalities among overseas Filipinos.
“On this brand new week and after three months of daily monitoring COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad, the DFA reports no new confirmed cases and no new fatalities due to COVID-19 among our people across the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa,” the DFA said.
The number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad remains at 8,679. Of these cases, 2,901 are undergoing treatment while 5,201 have recovered from the disease.
The DFA, meanwhile, has reported 577 deaths so far.
In the Philippines, health officials have confirmed 44,254 COVID-19 cases as of July 5. Of the number, 11,942 have recovered while 1,297 have died from the disease.
Globally, the number of individuals infected with the new coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan City in China’s Hubei province late last year, surpassed 10.9 million. Over 523,000 have died from the disease across the world.
